My Memories Of Punyadhama

There are many temples and Raghavendra Swamy Mathas in the country but few conduct 'jnana prasara' programmes as admirably as Punyadhama.
The five years that I lived in Rajaji Nagar, Punyadhama had become an important part of my life.

I will always remember the Upanyasas that I was fortunate to listen to. Who can forget Bhramanya Achar's humour words and his smiling face as he explained Sri Vadiraja's works like Rukminisha Vijaya and Laskhmi Shobana. One of his lines which I will never forget-'Surya has two sons- One is Yama and the other is Shani. Shani troubles those who are still living and Yama troubles the dead. If we want to escape these troubles we have to surrender to Sriman Narayana who is antaryami of Surya.'

One day Sri Sri Satyatma Tirtha visited Punyadhama. The place was packed that evening with many people who had come to see the divine Swamiji who has a charming smile. His confident voice and supremely knowledgable speeches have the power to change the hearts of people towards more belief in Acharya Madhva and Lord Maadhava.
Swamiji said '...... These days the corporate world is squeezing the blood out of our youth. The companies use motivation tapes that say 'You can, you can' to drive its employees further to work and make profits for themselves. Some of our youth are so stressed that they can't even enjoy their lives with their family for whom they work so hard..... We should use our samaya, deha shakti, indriyas etc. towards serving Lord Vishnu by studying the shastras of Achaya Madhva......'

Prabhanjana Acharya is another great orator and a Vaishnava who captures the listeners with his superb style of speech. His upanyasas are always worth listening. On the days when he came to Punyadhama I used to come directly there from my office not wanting to miss much of his golden words. One of his lines I remember- 'When we go to a yatra, we should concentrate on the significance of the places that we visit and try to see as many Vaishnava kshetras as we can. Instead most of us will be thinking 'When will we go back to Bangalore?'. We never think 'When will we go to Vaikuntha? !!!!!!'
